If you are currently a serving Constable in a Home Office or Scottish Office Constabulary and you have completed the Centrex based probationer training (or equivalent), the MDP welcomes your application and can provide new options for developing your career. You will not be required to complete another probationary period. However, you will be required to undertake a 4-week induction course and to take and pass the MDP firearms course.
We go wherever we're needed.
You will be allowed to count your previous service for annual leave entitlement purposes and retain your previous service in respect of your salary scale.
You will not normally be required to complete a physical fitness test but you will be required to undergo a medical examination by the Force Occupational Health Physician.
In respect of promotion opportunities within the MDP, we will honour forfeited Part 1 of Ospre® examinations.
The normal retirement age for MDP Officers is sixty. Officers in certain grades may be retained beyond this age, however, officers can request to remain beyond this age. You should not count on being able to stay beyond age sixty.
